Practical software. Connected systems.

Less friction.
From the field
to the office.

I connect the software, people and equipment your business relies on — so work moves forward with less retyping, chasing and manual checking.

    Capture it once

Job notes, time and photos recorded in the field.

  2. 02
    Check the details

Missing information comes back to the right person.

  3. 03

A draft ready for someone to check and approve.

01 / The work

Good systems fit
the way work happens.

For contractors, workshops and businesses with people or equipment out in the field. Start where information gets stuck.

OFFICE ↔ FIELD

The job is finished.
The admin isn’t.

Notes in a phone, photos in an email, hours on paper. Bring the details together so the office can move the job along.

A clearer path from completed work to invoice.

SYSTEM ↔ SYSTEM

The same information.
Typed twice.

Your software may already do its job well. Connect the hand-offs between it, or replace the small spreadsheet holding everything together.

Enter it once. Keep the right systems in step.

EQUIPMENT ↔ ACTION

A trip to site.
Just to check.

A pump fault, a tank level, a machine’s run hours. Explore whether an existing signal can tell the right person what needs attention.

Useful information from the equipment you have.

The details matter / Two illustrative examples

From information
to action.

Whether it’s a job record or a signal from a pump, the useful part is what happens next — including when something goes wrong.

SOFTWARE WORKFLOW / JOB → INVOICE

The job is done.
Keep the paperwork moving.

Field notes become an invoice draft, with the checks and visibility needed to keep someone in control.

  1. Details captured
  2. Gaps checked
  3. Draft prepared
No connection
Keep the captured job details and make unsent records visible.
Missing information
Flag the gap before an incomplete invoice reaches the customer.
Sent twice
Recognise the same job, rather than create a second invoice.
Ready to send
Keep a person in control of the final approval.

Useful on a good day.
Considered for a bad one.

Illustrative design approach. The right safeguards depend on your systems.

EQUIPMENT MONITORING / PUMP → ACTION

Know what needs attention.
Before making the trip.

A pump controller reports a fault. Connected monitoring (IoT) turns that signal into a notification someone can act on.

Pump & controllerConnectionNotification
  1. Fault detected
  2. Person notified
  3. Action recorded
Connection lost?
Show when the equipment was last heard from. An unknown state must be visible.
Same fault again?
Group repeat signals so one problem doesn’t become a flood of alerts.
Who’s responding?
Record acknowledgement and the next maintenance action.

Monitoring informs the response. Local equipment protection and controls remain independent.

Illustrative example · not a client installation. Signal access and site connectivity would be checked first.

Business Systems & Automation Review

From NZ$950 + GST

We walk through one operational process, from the first trigger to the finished job. Allow roughly two to three hours together to see where work slows down and why.

You get a written recommendation: the friction points, the most useful changes, likely effort and benefit, and a sensible first step. We agree the scope and delivery date before starting.

Independent advice. That may mean configuring what you have, connecting existing tools, or leaving a process alone.

Then, only what’s worthwhile.

Use the recommendation yourself, or ask me to scope the implementation. We agree the work, handover and any ongoing support before proceeding.

03 / The person behind the work

Hi, I’m Morné.
I join the dots.

I’m a software engineer with more than 20 years’ experience and a background in electronics. My work has spanned enterprise software, fintech, business workflows, integrations and embedded technology.

Wire & Workflow brings that experience to smaller businesses in Hawke’s Bay. You work directly with me, from understanding the problem to working out a practical solution.

I’m interested in the awkward gaps: the spreadsheet between two systems, the information someone types twice, the equipment someone has to drive out to inspect.

Understand the work. Choose the simplest useful solution. Pay attention to the details.

Experience behind the work

From enterprise business systems to embedded devices and banking hardware security modules (HSMs), my experience spans the software people use and the technology underneath it. That shapes how I approach workflows, integrations and the details that make a system dependable.

Enterprise software & fintech
Developing business applications, workflows and integrations — connecting the information and steps people rely on to get work done.
Embedded development
Software close to the hardware — connecting the behaviour of a device with the systems around it.
Smart card programming
Working within the constraints of small, specialised devices where protocols and precise behaviour matter.
Cryptography & banking HSMs
Experience with security-sensitive systems where correctness and careful handling of cryptographic operations matter.
Practical AI use
I use AI daily in my software development work, combining it with engineering judgement to explore problems, develop solutions and review the results. I also look for business workflows where AI could usefully assist, with appropriate checks and human oversight.
